Learning and development are important for any organization to stay significant and competitive within the marketplace. Since the social and business environment shift over the years, organizations got to become learning organizations. By Investing in their workers, they guarantee skills are up to date to realize the challenges of a Changing environment (Putta, 2014).Learning and Development professionals will focus on supporting, developing and accelerate learning in order to build responsive organizations with the capacity they need to perform their chosen approach.

Digital learning has developed quickly since coming of the  'e-learning' at the turn of the century and now encompasses websites, eBooks, social media and online communities, online lectures, webinars, podcasts and micro blogging. Blue Chip organizations like WSO2, Virtusa and 99X Technologies offer web based training services for the workers based outside. As such, it has proven to be a viable way of training and developing people in organizational settings, and one that forms part of an organization’s wider learning strategy. (CIPD, 2017).Such as virtual learning environments, artificial intelligence, machine- and game-based learning can be expect in the future. When these are integrated it will look a lot like what people are already doing on their own at the office it looks like unlocking achievements in the form of certifications and rank in leader boards. Looking up information whilst working to get just the information and insight they need, right when need it. At a similar time as all that's happening, Big Data solutions are going to be running in the background, giving instructors and training director’s insights into learning rates, content use, retention and more. The true innovation will come in designing programs to meet business requirements. (Eudy, 2017)

Conclusion

Organizations like MAS Holdings, Brandix lingerie are now providing Learning Development facilities on their premises. Like Brandix have their own university for workers to follow a degree at a low cost and they provide Distance learning capability, obviously they can attend to lectures via Webinars. Now global corporate are top in Learning and Development as it is fingertip away. (Brandix, 2017)

  1. E learning platform became more popular after the Covid19 pandemic situation . Although the distance learning is quite new to Sri Lanka, specially in Government school sector, students used to learn through e learning. However, there are pros as well as cons in e learning. Specially, when consider about distance learning system for students, who are in rural areas were unable to get the real outcome due to lack of infrastructure such as network and hardware.
