What is
HRM (Human Resource Management)
Definition
‘a
strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization’s most
valued assets – the people working there who individually and collectively
contribute to the achievement of its objectives’. (Armstrong, 2006, p3)
HRM ‘is
concerned with the employment, development and reward of people in
organizations and the conduct of relationships between management and the
workforce’. (Armstrong, 1999, p3)
Talent
Management
Talent
management is concerning guaranteeing that the organization has the talented people
it needs to attain its goals. Talent is what individuals should have to perform
well in their roles make a distinction structure of performance. Employees need
the flexibility to learn and grow, and they have the potential to form a
crucial contribution in the future. (Armstrong, 2016)
Why it is
important for an organization
Talent
management is integrating with talent planning and development. In fact it is
relatively new concept in the global context. Furthermore it has delivered from
the phase of “War for talent” When it comes to talent management.
It is
difficult to attract and retain talented people for an organization.
However
o’Reilly and Preffer(2000) point out that companies that adopt a ‘talent war”
mindset may place too much value on outsiders.
Global
Practice (Unilever)
Unilever
utilizes management development (MD) as a vital tool to help the organization
meet it’s short and long-term goals. In recent years, Unilever has undergone a
process of quick change and MD has been significant in conveying that change
through the organization and equipping staff to manage it. Key features that
have made the MD program work in this manner for Unilever were: joint ownership
and duty; recognizable proof of talent at all levels; explicit incorporation of
own desires; organization interests can take precedence over group interests;
one framework around the world; performance‐development related pay; and total transparency. In addition,
performance development planning is highlighted as a major component of the
program.
Practice
in our organization (excise Department)
When it
comes to our organization, some strategies are used to apply talent management.
Because we are in a critical
at risk operation. Therefore it is recommended to have a talented
pool work force
In my
point of view recruiting strategy is highly different in compression with other
organization.
Conclusion
*Talent
management is highly required for an organization in this current volatile
world.
*It is
important to build talent war mind setup in an organization.
*It is
important to attract and retaining talented people.
