Strategic human resource management can be defined as the intention and plan for the way in which its organizational goals and objectives are accomplished with the help of human resource. Strategic human resource management (SHRM) mainly focuses on developing different approaches which would help in differentiating its firm from their competitors (Guest, 2011)

The strategic planning process starts with four basic questions:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to be?
  • How do we get there?
  • How will we know in case we are on track toward our expecting goal??

Global Context

Cadbury success as the second largest confectioner in the world. Cadbury was established in 1824 and made a laborer village beside R&D factories. The village offered staff and their families a place to not only work but to live. Their people are their main priority and they have built a positive work atmosphere that allows for life and work balance. They have a loyal and dedicated workforce. HR has coordinated its policies and plans flawlessly with the organization’s strategy. They go hand in hand to meet the company’s long term goals.(people managing people,2020)

When it comes to our organization, Capacity development of Departmental Officers by means of improving knowledge, attitudes and skills via theoretical and practical training was the main task of the Human Resources Division. It was able to organize various training courses in collaboration with the local and foreign training institutes and the Excise Training College.(Sumanasinghe,2018)

Conclusion

When it comes to HR strategies, I would say it plays a significant role in terms of market strategies.

Strategic human resources management has picked up more significance for the organizations in recent years because human assets are seen as the most important resources of the organizations for picking up competitive.

It should be in line with organizational goals. For example; there would be a future if individuals do work with their high level of expertise to accomplish organizational goals.

This is where HR strategies work.
